Laboratory Technician

We are looking for a candidate with an attitude for innovation, new technologies, teamwork across functions and pragmatic problem-solving skills.

Technology Development in Product Supply Operations, Bayer AS is a key contributor to Bayer’s development of new molecular imaging agents and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy (TRT) products. Our focus is internal and external development of formulations, manufacturing processes and concepts for both clinical and commercial scale manufacturing. Furthermore, we are responsible for product and process transfers to internationally selected Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs) where we verify and support their performance.

The development of our new products is organized in dedicated, global technical development teams and currently we focus on a differentiated platform for a broad range of new imaging agents and TRT products. The CMO technology transfers, manufacture and supply is managed by dedicated joint cross-functional teams, wherein close collaboration, teamwork, and interaction with internal and external stakeholders is key.

 

Your tasks and responsibilities

The Laboratory Technician should optimally prove a track record from (radio)pharmaceutical industry, with desired skills from scientific laboratory work, clinical and/or commercial aseptic manufacturing, process engineering, chemical separation, extraction and analytical techniques (e.g., chromatography), GMP and regulatory documentation.

The selected candidate will support and practically contribute to various formulation, process development, clinical and commercial scale-up studies, glove-box work, execution of radiolabelling, radioisotope handling and purification, characterization, experiments, being part of laboratory teams.

The candidate will also support and practically contribute to CMO manufacturing process implementation and optimization, technical manufacturing in lab and clinical scale, process transfers, training of external staff, qualification of manufacturing and clean room equipment, being part of CMO technology transfer teams.

 

Who you are

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Radiochemistry,Biotechnology, Life Sciences or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience is mandatory, preferably with radioactive imaging agents and radiopharmaceutical products or within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Scientific laboratory and/or clinical / commercial aseptic (radio)pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in (radio)pharmaceutical process transfer, glovebox and clean-room work, mechanical handling and modification of process and laboratory equipment at clinical and/or commercial scale, handling of radioactive materials & radioisotopes and knowledge of radio-detection methodologies and analytical techniques is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan and perform laboratory experiments and formulation or process development studies, efficiently produce and manage GxP data and documentation, in order to deliver to agreed timelines. A skill in (radio)pharmaceutical process engineering and aseptic manufacture is an advantage
  • Attention to, and knowledge of, quality (GLP/GMP/GEP/GAMP) is essential
  • Strong technical, communication and team working skills combined with the ability to multi-task and maintain a safe work environment (HSE, radiation safety), both individually and in a team environment
